Hold up there chief... the what you need to do what?  Please tell me that to fish after dark in Westmoreland Co you don't need some absurd piece of gov't paper.  That costs money.

And since you ARE going to tell me that, can you perhaps explain the purpose behind it?

ps - I'm now looking up Westmoreland Co since I really can't picture where it is other than vaguely west of here (Beaver Co)

It should be noted that I do know the difference between east and west, despite my failure to use the correct one of those above.  Please substitute EAST where I put west.

Yeah thanks.  I looked.  Turns out it IS vaguely east of me.  Southeast to be more specific.  And since I am never east of Monroeville for any reason other than going to Atlantic City, I won't need whatever bogus permit this is.  Which I'm still interested in learning about.

Geez, it's 3 bucks. And good for a whole year. I think it's just an excuse to kick out anyone that isn't fishing. I'm ok with it. At least they keep the county parks open after dark for us (fisherman only). They could just close at dusk like everywhere else.

It's only required for fishing Westmoreland County Parks after dark, not all waters in the entire county.  Twin Lakes, Mammoth, Northmoreland where they dump a bunch of trout every year.  Maybe one or two others I've forgotten about.  The county parks close at dusk - gates locked, people told to leave.  Been 20+ years since I had one, but back then you HAD to have a lantern and you HAD to be fishing.  So it was a way for night fishermen to be able to use the county parks when they otherwise normally couldn't have.

Sounds like a good idea, and a fair price to me.

You can buy the permits online as well.  That's what i did last year, print out a few copies in case you lose them.

I get mine online. For $3 it is a steal. It keeps people out who should not be there and just like some of the incidents at twin over the past few years. The rangers patrol and check on you.

I can't even... I don't... just... wow.  So for $3 you are PERMITTED by the same government you already pay taxes to be out after dark and have park rangers check DER PAPERS.  Am I getting that right?  Then some other government agents can come perform unwarranted searches on you with the presumption that if you are fishing you are guilty of poaching until they prove otherwise.  GOOD TIME WERE HAD BY ALL!

Heck if enough of us are willing to **** away our rights maybe we could pay $20 every five years to the county sheriff for a piece of paper saying it is okay for us to carry a firearm concealed!  Subject to their screening, searches, harassment, etc, but hey!  Awesomesauce!

Good for you guys.  Glad there's no rabble at their private parks to bother you, since pawpaw gov't lets you stay up late to fish.

When it comes to trout I'm a firm believer they should dump them in a field and let people take what they want, plow the rest under! They're going to die anyway and it cuts down on polluting our streams!!! Two for one!

It's a huge waste on money and draws out more litter bugs then any thing on PA waterways.
