Wills Creek changes

Do to the installation of gates at many R/R access roads ; above and below Glencoe. There will be many good sections of water that will NOT be stocked this year.Have helped stock those sections many times in the past. The stock truck has to rely on using these access roads to be as close to the stream as posssible. Plus; the R/R security folks have been treatening folks with a fine for crossing the tracks to fish. It's a sad situation to see such a stretch of Wills Creek from below Glencoe all the way to Fairhope, be impacted this way. Lot of folks may still be planning their yearly trip to this area to fish or camp and fish both. Please check your area out ahead of time to see for yourself if fishing in your favorite spot on Wills Creek is feasible. What a bummer to show up for your annual trip and find nowhere to camp and no access to fish. The R/R is using the "liability" card to deny access to most areas. Hope this info will help save some folks from having a disappointing opening day and beyound.

Thanks HenHouse.  What a shame, that is one of the nicest stretches of stocked water in the state, no doubt.  I have a lot of good memories of that place.  The F&BC always stocked a lot of really big fish in that stretch of water.  Is there anywhere or way this could be petitioned?  Do you have any contact info with the railroad or PF&BC?  It would be really nice to see this sorted out in a way that didn't hurt the fisherman in the long run.  Walk-in only/cross under the bridges/stay in the creek kind of thing.  Where are they planning on putting the fish that normally went into that section?  Below Fairhope?  In Brush Creek?  Nowhere?

Maybe the State Game Lands will get the extra fish. Or they could look into opening the gate above Mance and use the small truck to put fish . It's not a R/R gate there . It's a Game Comm. gate. Lots of nice water upstream from there. I fished it years ago when there was some beaver dams in a few spots. That would be walk-in fishing only. It looks like a old tram-road that follows the stream for a long ways. BTW. The water water below Fairhope is nice ; hard to stock and hard to access it because of the rocky condition. I;ve did both, but not any more. Too hard on the ankles.

That rail road is a CSX line.

A friend who does a lot of work with them said this is their number to call & ask about accessing the creek from the RR.
    1-800-TELL-CSX
Feel free to call, express your concerns & talk with them if you are so inclined.
