Wild Trout Streams and Good All Year Round Trout Streams

Looking to get out this weekend and fish since the weather is looking like it will be pretty nice Saturday. Can anybody point me in a good direction of some wild trout streams or places that have good populations of trout year-round? I know the Youghiogheny outflow is year-round trout fishing but are there any places around there that can also be good fishing for trout year-round? Thanks in advance! Anywhere in SW PA is fine but if you could suggest places near Ohiopyle, that would be great!

Been 20+ years since I chased wild brook trout in the Laurel Highlands, but here are 3 good places to help narrow your search:

Not all of these waters are on public land, so you'll have to do a little research.  I've fished some of the ones listed in Westmoreland County, and had some great days and made some great memories, and this was my favorite time of year to do it.  I found lots of wild brook trout, and the occasional wild rainbow.  A good way that I used, back in the old days before the internet, was to look at a map of streams that got stocked in the good ole PA Atlas and Gazetteer, and follow the blue lines upstream to headwaters.  Lots of public land in the area you're looking at like Game Lands and State Forest.

I didn't even know we had any good wild Brookie streams left around here. I assume it's nymphing this time of year, or has anyone had luck with dries?

I think this was posted here recently.

Maggots, red worms and Pautzke's Balls o Fire worked back in the day.  Before I learned a little bit about trout fishing in my teens and early 20's, my dad and I would fish January through March for wild brook trout in our orange hunting coats, use 2 piece bamboo rods with no reel and a length of 8# mono tied on the end, size 8 hooks and a half a nightcrawler in the streams east of Ligonier on the map that Chris shared.  I always get a chuckle out of the ninja stealth, camo wearing, belly crawling wild brook trout stories.  Those buggers would eat just about anything you put in front of 'em.

As for "good wild Brookie streams left around here," I couldn't tell ya, as it's been 20+ years since I've chased 'em.  But I have a few friends who fish for 'em in the Laurel Highlands who share pics on social media, and it looks like they're doing just fine.

There are a couple good club stocked creeks around. Other than that if your looking for trout all year around I would go to the lakes.

The streams at lynn run state park in rector have wild trout. and alot of them.also mill run i believe. but if you follow the stream up from around the store on 711 by the bridge cant remember the name but the creek gets narrow and from about that spot you can catch wild trout.and both areas are great places to spend the day.

Streams that support wild trout reproduction. I imagine it is similar to the class a list, but also contains stocked streams that contain natives.
