trout limit

Just a reminder that as of Sept. 1rst the daily limit for Trout is now 3 per day. I reminded several guys over the past 2 weeks. I also asked the Trib. sports writer to put in a reminder in his column but I haven't seen it yet.  sam

Thanks. They haven't stocked many of the typical waterways with "fall trout." I guess they can't afford it.

I would assume they don't stock a lot of places is because of low water flow this time of year, also I think that what they put in now was held back from the places that they would have put them in earlier in the year. sam

Compared to the regular season stocking, they put some nice sized fish in the Northern PGH DHALOs (Pine, Deer, and Buffalo) I've only fished one lake, Deer Lake, and it had some chunky stockies as well. As far as the Loyalhannah, I saw and caught more fish a week before the fall stocking than two weeks after.

Not sure what ya mean Alex, at least what's "typical" of the past 7-8 years.

I don't fish for fall trout too often anymore, but all the typical lakes and DHALO areas I'm familiar with in Allegheny, Butler, Armstrong and Westmoreland have been stocked.  North Park gets some in a few weeks.  Brady's Run in December.

Going back 10-15 years, some of those bigger lakes would sometimes get an October and December/January stocking if I remember correctly, but what the PFBC website shows is very typical of recent years.

Was probably 6 or 7 falls ago, but one hole on Buffalo was loaded with 14-20" browns and rainbows.  The fall fish I've typically found in Deer Lakes have been very nice browns for the most part.

They should almost be done with their fall stockings.  All the typical waterways around my area have already been stocked.

Really the water shouldnt be low flow this time of year. Most water levels should be holding and getting back to normal at this point.

Yeah they stocked pine a couple weeks ago but it's crap. I went down the day they stocked and pulled out a 14" brown and saw a good few swimming around but for the last 10-12 days I haven't caught or even seen one fish anywhere in delayed harvest. Hopefully that rain brought them out from hiding.

I was referring to North park and slippery rock creek.
I coulda sworn north park got trout earlier but I could be wrong. I usually take the kids to np every October and we always get a few. And I thought slippery rock got some last October-if they didn't then I caught a lot of holdovers last October.
