pay to not even fish

Now the DSR is requiring a deposit of $100 just to get/stay on the season pass waiting list. Sure it is refundable and applied to your pass, but come on

Well , it stinks all the way around . I have thoughts of fishing there Thursday . I won't be salmon fishing again other then these few days so it's a thought .
It's old stomping grounds and can be spectacular days , as well as duds .
    As for the topic :
Most campgrounds / marinas require a non refundable deposit .
I had an issue with my boat on my last day at the lake . If I had given my $300 deposit and don't fix my boat , I'd be screwed . Obviously I will be fixing my boat but haven't given the deposit . If they sell out , I got to find another .

    It all still stinks 👿

Clint do you want the pass? That's the big question. I can see why they'd do it. I got my pass by the skin of my teeth this year. I do like the new half day daily pass thing. May get the wife to come down today. Once a year is not going to hurt the Wallet. My kids get in for free. So my pass is worth it for me.

I had considered buying a pass once I hit the life member status in the MRC, when my dues disappear and I just have to put in some work day time, a possibility once I retire.  But they have raised their prices beyond even that notion.  If I lived right up the street, like you, Dime, I'd be thinking about it, but I 'll just have to line up at the RG+E gate for the Genesee, which I can take the bus to if I really want to reduce my carbon footprint. Personally, at this point, I hope they starve.

Do I want a pass? Yes. Will I pay $750? Nope. I was offered this year and declined. The math was not worth it. At $75 I would have to go 10 times to break even. Beyond shark season, in Winter , the steel Fish better up stream. So why put myself in a position I feel I need to go there to get my $$ worth. I could go 9 Times and still come out ahead, more if i did afternnoons . At $500 I would of purchaced. Then to top it all off I am sure The entitlement runs as Deep or deeper there as now there is $$$$ involved for that spot on The rock .

Entitlement isn't too bad. I find more cockiness and arrogance in lfz and other areas. But I hear ya completely. Not trying to sell it on you at all. Just was wondering if you were gonna get it. Steel fishing is phenomenal at times until Christmas though.

For now the whole DSR thing is priced out for me to even think about it seriously.  However, as more and more of the river becomes privatized and more areas get posted it may eventually make sense.
For now I'll leave it to dime and chart.

For me it was all about the water it offered for salmon and clients . I have said it so many times , best salmon water on the river IMO . I would do 30 days a season for salmon there and it was worth it . Once I threw in the towel and they made it a no kill zone it became really a no brainer to let someone else have at it .
Yes it's good for steel but much more inconsistent and the gales of November can be brutal down there so I liked mid - upper river fishing better at that time .
I don't like the idea of the whole scheme but if it was a day a season then I could swing it if I chose .
Some day I may go back , maybe . As long as the fish are spreading out , I will continue to fish Jacks secret spot until they no longer allow me to .
For sure we will fish there this week in honor of the GREAT Fish Master, pafisher !!!!
    WELL wishes ole friend 🐟

Well I'm at work and heading up at 3 pm. Just realized I took all my sporting licenses out of my wallet before I went to Florida and guess where they still are ? At home of course . I know you can get ticketed for not having a license on your persons but I also know they do have the capability to run your drivers license and see if you have sporting license .
Ain't going back home to get them so going to roll the dice and hope DEC is willing to run my drivers license .
In all of the years I be n up there I have only been checked once and it was 3 times in the same day by the same guy , it got old on the 3 rd time but now that I forgot it , I'm sure I will be asked.
    I pizzed

Probably would pay that much in gas just to run back home.

Not to worry Tuna; that forgetful thing is just one of two signs of old age approaching.

Luckily you didn't forget where you were going.

Well I got my pass for tomorrow first time on the DSR sharing some water a couple of forum members. First time fishing with one and starting to become the norm with the other. Just waiting for a tug that last more than a second and something bigger than a chub. On another note I did get a discount for serving in the Marines $15.00 off just had to show my Marine Corps tattoo.
