Keystone state park

I've avoided stocked trout waters the first couple weeks after the opener for the past few years. This year I'm considering taking the boat to keystone state park lake likely sunday, monday, or tuesday. I've never been there near the opener. How's the boat traffic get there? I have an 18' aluminium v hull and would obviously be stuck using the electric. Is it a jam packed nightmare like Arthur or anywhere really, on a holiday weekend? Or is it normally just a few boats, canoes, kayaks and whatnot, with the majority soaking their baits from shore? If it gets real crowded I'll just fish for something else, somewhere else. If you've witnessed the mayhem in the last few years, let me know about it, please.

    an 18' Lund is not a yak... how's the boat traffic near the opener?

    I was saying if ya have a yak thats the way to go. And probably not something id bother with. Gonna be busy. Btw i had a 14 ft lund with a 25 yam 4 stroke on it. I wouldnt even tak that on keystone.lol

    Fishinguy, A better choice than Keystone IMO would be Lake Donegal,although it will be crowded also, there seems to be more room & yesterday they stocked a ton of trout & also there are some nice Crappie & Bass in there. During the week there is a lot less pressure there. As for me I will be somewhere else tring for Crappie as they seem to be turning on now. Crooked Creek is coming down now,but I don't know if the road to the beach Or the boat launch will be open. Sam

    I fished keystone state park yesterday. The crowds were there but managable. Only caught 7 between the 4 of us on the boat. It was too hot and sunny got more sunburn than fish. It was my fourth opening day there and i might try some where else next year. Although they put alot of big ones in during the stocking I haven't seen any lunkers caught in those 4 years.

    Thanks for the report. Sounds like a rough opener as far as the catching goes. I took the boat out on a non trout lake for pan fish and whatever else felt like eating. Had a good day, fish fry tonight. Didn't kill em, but didn't want to kill anybody either.
