Isn't it time to take the plastic off the cork handles and get some slime on them?

My regular fishin buddy still has plastic on rods that he's been using for years.  Makes me mental.

Get some spray adhesive and some cork sheet gasket material. Glue it to the backplate of the reel.

Don't know if it would help with a centerpin brake, but those cheapo mechanics gloves make pretty good fishing gloves, and keep your hands a bit warmer.  The ones that are basically spandex, with the fingers and palms dipped in rubber.  Cost about $2 per pair (Harbor Freight).  They'll affect your casting and retying, but you can get by with them.  They're best in the 32-40 degree range when used alone, anything under, go thicker and use them under for when you need to retie, bait, ect.  Don't submerge your hand in water, but you can get the rubber part wet to handle fish and still stay warm.
