Finn Raccoon replacement

Hello All
Saw a pattern that I want to tie. Defranks Emerald Shiner. Problem: I don't have Finn Raccoon for the last wing. Any suggestions on a replacement material? I thought maybe deer hair, but that seems kind of stiff. Then I thought maybe rams wool, but that seems too heavy and may crush the ice dubbing wing when wet. Help! As always, Thanks in advance.

You can try olive marabou or some stands of peacock hurl, I wouldn't go to heavy with it. This is in no way written in stone any where Just a thought. If you want the facts you will have to ask the Chartist.!!!!!!!!!!!! Old 1/o himself.

Arctic fox tail or Icelandic sheep aka "streamer hair" available at many online fly tying sites. Soft, mobile hair, easy to tie with & gives you a streamer that will have lots of movement, action. Finn raccoon, great stuff & when tied in over an underwing of fox tail, gives you a beautiful streamer. Finn raccoon is also readily available on line.

When winging streamers with Arctic fox tail & finn raccoon the fox tail underwing should be about 20% shorter than the finn raccoon overwing & the wing should be tapered. Olive over white or my favorite, black & gray over white with some pearl firefly flash make a very, very good shiner pattern.

I'd use craft fur just because that's what I have lots of. I need more materials...

    temple dog
    arctic fox tail
arctic fox body (which is much softer and shorter than tail... almost like temple dog without the guard hairs)
    craft fur
    coyote
