    My favorite is...

    size 10 egg hook
invert hook... helps to have a rotary vice
tie in white polar fibre or bucktail or some synthetic type of long white hair
Turn hook back over, add a small clump of black synth or bucktail
Ontop of that add some olive synthetic or buck tail
Comb out, cut to shape of baitfish being carefull not to cut the olive.
Add stick on eyes, coat eyes and head area with epoxy. Let the rest of the body uncovered.

I tear the trout up in this cold weather with this fly.

I call it the "Spring Creek Shiner"

You can alter the colors and make it look like a trout.

I make all kinds of different shiner patterns, just experiment with them and try them out.  I tie one a lot that I call a "Bleeding Emerald", its the same one Im tying for the swap, it aint much to look at but it kills fish on the swing.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

A simple pattern that I use is as follows
    thread char
hook any 3xl streamer hook size 10
tail red yarn or antron but make it short. Its not really a tail its more of a stub only about 1/4" off the bend. This gives the fish a good focus point on the swing
body silver mylar. I put a thin layer of head cement on the thread wrapped hook first to give it aliitle xtra strength. Also after its on the hook coat it with Sally Hansons hard as Nails. Ask your wife to pick some up for you she'll know about it. Let dry before going further. I like to make up abunch of bodies at 1 time. By the time I get the last one done the first is ready to go.
wing wht marabou very sparce with 2 peacock herls on top.

I came up with this as a low clear fly and it is one of my gotos in that condition. A friend of mine switched up some for when the water is offcolored

size 8 or 6 mustad 9674 body is pearl estaz and wing is more full. With these additions it gives the fly a bigger profile.

    Good luck

I have had great success with zonker strips (white). The mylar tubing was a bear to work with so I substituted the Estaz egg material for the body and they worked great.
