lake wilhelm

Was out today with some friends and we noticed alot of dead fish floating including a 24+ inch walleye. Does anyone know what is going on with all tje dead fish?

    Not an uncommon sight for Wilhelm this time of the year. Dimes to doughnuts they hit the lake with herbicide(s) to kill the weeds. In two weeks the biologist will issue a report telling us it was a sudden change in the water temperature that shocked the fish which lowered the fishes immune sytem allowing water born bacteria to kill the fish.

    Were most panfish (bluegills & crappie)? If yes, post spawn stress.

    Some carp, a couple walleyes, there were others but we couldn't identify them, alot of panfish

    Maybe shad. There seems to be a die off of them every spring, too. Was out there a couple weeks ago and there were thousands of them splashing around in the shallows.
