3/27/14 3/29/14 after work

got up there by 5:45.  I tied up a new fly and was eager to try it 3rd cast and I had a fighter.   Lost her.   fishing was slower after that.   I had a few more on and got one to the net.   I got one right at around 720 and fought it for what seemed an eternity,  with my arm screaming at me and it getting dark I horsed a bit too hard and broke the 4# test.   Hits came on what I am calling a flash caddis (tinsel body, estaz head)   Steelhead hammer in pink and a plain old peach egg.

BTW  river was raised to 750 WED night, and that may explain the decreased action yesterday.  I know the 4 I seen hooked across from me , 2 were fouled and I am quite sure I fouled at least one as it did not feel right

Got home Sat after work and even though it was sprinkling the radar looked OK so I went up.  Fished from 530 till 730    Night started out good had 3 fish on in 10 casts and 2 in the net.   It shut down from there with only  2 more quick ones and a screamer right at 730.     Notice the first fish has some kind of fungus or something on it.   Those are not eel bites there was one blotch on the other side too.   It rained on me all evening, but not too hard.   May go up tomorrow depending on the weather.   I have to get my taxes done and I am running low on flies

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that waits to pay Uncle Sam.  Spent most of the day yesterday getting the remaining records and doing all the incopme, today I see how much I can deduct.

When I got up this morning I thought it had snowed, but when I went to clean off the truck, I found it covered with 6" of white concrete.  45 Today, 50 tomorrow, high and muddy for Tuesday AM.

Finished the taxes this AM.   We are entering some new ground as we got in the stock market last year and I have some capitol gains and losses, so a new form was needed.
I went out today at around  11:00 and fished for  a few hours.   The wind was brutal and so was the fishing.   I only managed a few head shakes and 1 short battle.   Folks were picking away at them, but it was not steady and they were tight lipped.

Came home a day early from Sr country- all work and no play up there painting and  trimming (scalping to near  death)  apple trees and some other chores for 2 days- more to come here in CT.
Wanna get VERY caught up before the CT opener and the best spring SR steel fishing.
Did take a drive to upper river this Pm just for a look around- many on stringers around unemployment and Ellis.

Saw a guy in unemployment catch a fish and  bean it with a rock to kill it after kicking it  outa the water onto the rocks. Then he proceeded to cover it with stones - kinda like a little gravesite- and go back to fishing. Hiding his one fish limit perhaps.
