fishin monday

Im thinking about headed up monday.  If anyone's fishing pm me if you wanna share a drift.
Also how are lower elk/walnut in terms of ice?  Im looking for a few fresh fish.
Otherwise ill go up and see what the old fish are looking like.  Thanks,
Alex

I am not a fly fisherman though fisherofmen274.  I usually stop at poor richards when i come up there.  I love giving them there guys my business.  I would probably fish the egg sack and the single egg if we shared the drift so we don't get snagged up.

    Sorry I missed you poopface.
I didn't end up going, family stuff took priority.
Next week I am working in the area but I see teens and single digit temps. It's been two months since I've caught a steelhead. Just haven't been able to get up there, and the one time I did was a complete blowout. It stinks. Spring seems reaaaaaaallly far away right now.

Salmon River NY......there is always fishable water.
Sure its a long drive but if you really wunna catch some steel in next 2 weeks that's where I would go.
This weather will break sometime but creeks are going to lock up around here.

Yeah...someday I'll get there. But not quite yet. I know nothing about the water there-why does it not freeze up?

The SR does n't lock up with ice like the creeks in Erie but it gets plenty of shelf ice and that can be dangerous to navigate. The SR does n't lock up because it is a tailwater fishery and the release keeps it flowing.Looking at the weather report I won't even think about Steel until March now,and then it will be the Ohio tribs beckoning.
