2014 ICE FISHING THREAD

We will call this the 2014 thread even though it is started today.  
 
I hit the ice today at my go to spot after a stop at All Seasons to get bait.   He said they were doing quite well in the upper river on the steel and I had a twinge of regret on my choice, which was confirmed after a day of fishing.  It was warmish , but windy as hell out there.  Did not haul the clam out.  Tried out my new homemade tip downs and they worked pretty well.  Got about $4 each into them. 
Got 4 keeper perch and  a bunch of dinks for about 4 hours out.   Ice was about 4 to 6 inches thick and not what I would call good ice, as there was a mix of white ice on top.  an inch of slush on top  I felt safe and confident on it's strength.  There were a bunch of other out too.   Guys in front of me got into a few good pike.
We will see what tomorrow brings
