Vexilar Smartphone system

Has anyone seen this system? Turn you smartphone into a mobile depth sounder. Ordered the T-Pod to use on a drift boat and can also be used by casting from shore to see what is happening where you are fishing. The app is free and will turn on the system. More than one person can read of your unit as you are the master and they are the slaves once you give them a password. They also have units that hook to a separate battery system. The T-Pod has a built in battery which you recharge.

Let us know how it works.  It looks pretty cool.  I wonder if you can split screen with the Navionics app?  I loaded that on my phone as a back up.  I tried using, but need to mess with the settings so that my phone doesn't go into screensaver mode.  Its nowhere near the detail of the Navionics chips, but usable.  I think maybe $10.  Add the $150 for the Vexilar and get one of the cheaper tablets, and might have a decent setup for cheap?  I didn't like using my iPhone for the Navionics, both due to small size and feared that it would fall overboard...  Probably best to use on a spare/old phone/tablet.  Since it doesn't require a cell signal, you could probably get an older smart phone for cheap to run it?

They have a system to strap your phone to your arm also. I have a Lifeproof system my phone is in it is waterproof. When fishing i have a lanyard that my phone is attached to which is around my neck.

The only thing I worry about is I plan on using it musky fishing on French and some smaller lakes that I cant take my big boat on so I am going to attach wire to the T-Pod. Dont want a musky thing it is a lure and take it.

That would suck, but would be pretty awesome...  I've never heard of anyone having their transducer attacked, so would guess if it is close enough to the boat, you would be fine.  Use some strong wire to connect, just in case.

I can get you a nice inflatable boat.

I thought it was at first too, but recognized Sharpefly & Vexilar, so figured it was legit enough to read.  Glad I did too.  I'm doing a good rehaul on my boat over the Winter, thinking to upgrade the rather subpar electronics.  The graphics look good, but would like to see more reviews.  It would be nice for everyone on board to be able to check their phones, or if on the boat alone on the front deck.  I was debating trying to reuse my current on my front end trolling motor.  This would kill two birds with one stone.  Heck, for how cheap they are selling tablets now, having one for the boat wouldn't be bad.  If fishing is really slow, the kids (or I)can play Angry Birds...
