Possible Ice Fishing Tournament on Lake Arthur

The Slippery Rock University Competitive Bass Team is looking into putting together a ice fishing tournament this Feb. on Lake Arthur but I wanted your opinions on it first. What kind of things would you like to see as a part of this? Please share any ideas. Also, let me know if you think you would be interested. I would like to get a good idea of how much interest we would have. Thanks guys!!

The Winter's have been so unpredictable, having any sort of organized ice fishing event on Arthur is a gamble.  I refuse to buy equipment, due to the unpredictable ice on lakes in the area.  I wish that it was better, since I enjoyed ice fishing (minus using others holes or the ice cracking sounds).  When there is good ice, it seems to either come along with blizzard conditions, deep freeze, or jumps to 50 degrees.  There seems to be 2-3 weekends that both decent ice and barable weather coincide, hopefully you are fortunate to have both.  It seems the lakes 50-60 miles north, have a bit more consistent ice fishing season.  I'd include a safety waiver that has yourself and your organization not legally responsible for anyone participating.

I would be interested in helping with this. Slippery Rock Alumni myself. Maybe select a Saturday in Mid-late January with a back-up date in Febuary. You might need to contact Fish Commission about the tournament application.

You may wish to post about this on IceShanty.com and/ or Icefishin247, those are probably the most popular ice fishing sites.

I'd be interested in participating (except for the fact that I'm an IUP alum ), although winters can be very unpredictable. The long term forecast for this year seems to promote a good ice season.
