For steelhead: Have a Hardy Perfect Taupo. Bit pricey, $695, but worth every penny. Great click/pawl reel for a single hand 7 wt or light spey. Hardy has a Marquis Salmon 1 click/pawl, same size & approx. weight for $275, a reasonable price. The Marquis are well regarded & imo, a good choice for Erie sthd.

Got the nickname Plum Bob from using my putter to plumb the line for putts. Back when I used to play some golf. Couple of my friends called me that all the time. Sounds like you'll be happy with your new reel.
