Egg Take

This was in the e-mail this AM.

"Greetings,

As of October 21, NYSDEC Salmon River Hatchery staff have completed Chinook and coho salmon egg collections for 2013.  Target numbers of fertilized eggs were exceeded for both Chinook (4.12 million collected; target 3.4 million) and coho (1.68 million collected; target 1.6 million) salmon using fish exclusively from the Salmon River/Beaverdam Brook system (i.e. there was no need for contingency egg collections from other Lake Ontario tributaries.

Relax and enjoy safe and successful deer hunting!

Best regards,

Steve

Another confirmation of what everyone said about the size of the run, even with the massacre that went on, plenty of salmon made it to the hatchery .

Thanks it's good to know that even though they fight a war, many win the battle and make it through.

    Here is a thought.
If last year super run was mostly 2 year old fish and alot of natural spawners by the looks of all the pics and our catch  and this years fish there were alot of natural spawners, I only caught 1 hatchery fish of about 10 landed.   There were tonsof fish this year and they were bigger.

These fish would have spawned in 2010 the year of the flood.................
    Any thoughts
