I think I posted about this a few years back.. Some one (guide) had clients and wanted to film a video..Asked if he could fish my "spot"..  I said sure we can rotate, even though nobody else was around .. Well .... Welcome to fishing in the toilet..

2B showed some water to a couple of guys from the 'daks one year, the next day half of Essex county showed up.  The only good thing was one of them was Fran Betters and also Doug Smith was a good man to fish with.  But the rest of them would have pretty much climbed all over each other's shoulders to get the spot.  2B, at 6'6" is kind of hard to step over, so it didn't phase him much!

With resources drying up it's like that everywhere.   A few years ago I gave a guy permission to hunt my property.   A few days later see him there with another guy.   I figure "no big deal"   Next weekend I see the other guy there with 2 others.   I guess he figured permission by proxy.   I then let everyone know all permission was revoked.   Now with the VERY few I give permission to I am as clear as can be about bringing friends in.

Same old story song and dance. The best is when you finally start fishing somewhere else and start hooking up and then they feel as if its open invite to jump in your pocket again. I usually am done fishing at that point... takes the fun out of it...

Good for you sarge for standing up for yourself and having a good time with your friends...

I don't know about resource drying up as much as putting forth the effort verses  instant gratification..
I spend countless days enjoying the outdoors without company.. I know fichy does too.. It's when we get to a popular (populous) area that things go south..
The Salmon River has lots of open water it's just courtesy that we play nice together.. Shame sometimes that is too much to ask..
Heck I'd let someone fish my run any time, any day, but please remember we are here to share the water.. Thats what lacks..

I think you are super right about the effort  and instant gratification thing.   Heck that's why I fish on my rock. It's easy to get there, there are plenty of fish, but I know that going in and deal as best I can (even if I complain here about it).
