10/16

Short hand version today.

Stated low.
Fish trickling thru here and there .
Lost 1 of the 2 pewter bright hens I saw go thru.
Males were pretty beat looking.

8:30 made the move to the lfz.
Guide and clients on Clint's rock and just upriver.
Went by them to have my own water.
Swung cut shank intruderish flies tied on #2 streamer shanks about 4 in long.
Had around 8 or nine solid takes but couldn't put any to shore for pics.
They kept falling off after a minute or two.

I'm talking arm jolting takes.

Thinking back on it they were taking about 30 or 40 feet downriver and near the end of the swing.
I reacted by setting as always  pulling the fly up and away from the fish rather that giving slack and setting down and towards the bank.
My bad.

Also the #4 trailer hook while not a circle hook has a slight inward bend.
Tendonitis in my foot started to hurt bad so I went for a drive looking for water.
16 cars including a drift boat in what I will dub  "the twat lot"
(rhymes pretty good) and the same at the wire lot.
Not for me.
Went to trussle (like that spelling from another site) and the lot was a mess.
Looked and saw only a few people there so assumed walking would be usless.
Cicled and found Pville full, Sportsmens crowded but the spot of spots was Ellis.
You could fit another car in with a shoe horn.
Went to Malinda's and she gave me a shipping tube to send an Orvis rod I broke last year back.
Saved me a trip to ups to buy one.

A good day I could have made better with a little critical thinking at the right time.

Still fun to get hits on the swing!  Orvis has had some good screw ups in production, mainly regarding ferrule fit.  The Helios line  has been much  better, as they REALLY paid attention to detail. Kind of telling when they keep a garbage can of ferrule wax behind the counter and push it on customers. Not that waxing is a bad thing, just not to make up for bad tolerances.   People like you and I Bob, apparently test the  limits of 2.6 replacement/economic theory.  I have one 6 wt. that has been upgraded twice .  No blanky, no fixy.  Nice report, next time I think you'll  have it.

Fichy you bet the strikes were still exciting.
They were trying to kill those intruders not nip them.
Just cause I'm a dolt that can't remember how to set doesn't change that.

I heard several people say they saw steel moving about.
    Didn't see any myself.
I forgot that there were quite a few  "I 'm not lifting , no really I'm not"
    guys yesterday.
Too much weight, tight line short drift and then accelerate the take out for the next cast.

Sweet Hyde rowboat but not the pucker bush drifter as I remember it from a decade ago.
Not bad for a high speed driveby shot.

Two bob you hit a nerve over there talk about being taken out of context. Seems like too much drama there for me.

The unbelievers get defensive about anything that questions their fishing method and that it is the only way to catch salmon.

I half expected it but and find it amusing.
Simple pics with no preaching and a couple went off.
They seemed to have calmed down at this point and I'm hoping more people post some pretty pics now.

I just wish I didn't get my cheapo bkodak last fall so I don't have more myself to post.
A few friends have sent me pics to repost for them.

Gennie at Portageville spiked quite a bit in the last few days, with Rushford being drained and rain, may be here in the next 5 or 6 days, so I Ck may have to do it, although there is still a fair amount of rain coming according to NWS.
