saturday 10/12

We launched in altmar at 730 did not really find a good place to fish until we hit my favorite spot... lucky I guess.  On the way to the launch we encounter a Toyota that tried to park in a ditch, sun ruined the pic but it was hilarious to watch his buddys jumping on the bumper trying to get the spinning rear tire to hit the pavement.

It took a while but the guys got the hang and we put some nice fish on the bank. Forgot my net in the garage at home.

Guys tried the fly rod but felt more comfortable with spin gear, we used egg patterns in pink, red and yellow w/red dot early but about 1030 the leaf hatch started and we switched to white and eztaz and the action stayed steady till we pulled out at 330.

Crowds were insane especially up top but somehow we managed the sweet spot for most of the day, went downstream with my client and a fish on and by the time we got back they had moved in on us. We shared.....

Joe drifting in a leaf hatch

I swung the swatter on and off and landed two nice coho.

fish of the day was the last and it was a beautiful steelhead caught by BJ on a white egg patern, we were happy and called it a day after that.

Wow John, sounds like an awesome day.   Did you pull any plugs?   Lot's of guys doing that on Thursday.  Going on Oneida tomorrow for some perchies.

No plugs Clint, had them rigged up but the numbers of fisherman did not allow me the opportunity to use them. We stayed put in the same spot all day.

For a    mentally deranged   zoo this weekend , you had your clients in prime time and then some. Strong work, John.  Thanks for the fly tips- I'm leaving tomorrow- maybe fish late and Monday.  Doubt I'll get bit like that.  Hope we can fish together sometime this late fall.

Finding open water is a win this time of year.
You found not only that but prime water and then puts your guys into fish.
    Very nice.

    Rockin John !!!!
Awesome you gave your guys a great time.. That metalhead looks killer man and I'm sure had your heart racing going without a net .. Kudos to you and the crew !!

I got lost far away from the crowds myself for a few days.. Solitude was key for me to relax before I'm ready to jump back into fishing mode..  Only thing killed in 3 days were many orange cans :) Shot em' dead with the 38..
    See ya soon bro..

Nice john... my buddy and I fished it early in the morning. To our surprise it was empty then as well. I was more of a sideline spectator than a fisherman to say the least...lol...nice steelie!!!
