I voted for flies, because you asked all time "favorite",  not most effective.

I have such a hard time with these polls.  I just can't pick one.  All time favorite would actually be, dry flies, or any surface lure.   I couldn't vote for "topwater" because that would kind of leave flies out of it.  But just to be sure, when I voted for flies, I sure as heck wasn't referring to a sucker spawn, or anything hanging from a bobber/strike indicator.

Went with plastics...  year round, all species, just doesn't matter.  Always effective.  Although since picking up a boat, crankbaits are gaining some affection!

My favorite all time lure would have to be the metal lipped, smaller size Hot 'n Tot. I love to troll and I've caught so many fishing in numerous places trolling Hot 'n Tots that lure has sentimental meaning to me. Fishing in Erie, I don't use Hot 'n Tots anymore, but I'm still a finatic about that lure. A few years back when they discontinued the old style, I was buying then like they were going out of style (which they were at the time). Now, I have a whole box full of brand new Hot 'n Tots at home. I gotta have at least 50 to 100 of them. I don't know why, but I'll never part with them. The Hot 'n Tots along with my Down East rod holders (that I also never use) and my 1980 Garcia ABU bait caster are very dear to me.

I have to say flies are my favorite, especially when fishing for steelies, but my most productive are Rapalas.  They are lean, mean fish catching machines!!!!  Gotta love the Rap's.....

I am with bug on this one.  I also love topwater.  Nothing like watching a bass take one of those.

#1 Have a relaxing time drifting with jig & fatheads catching eyes! Top-waters are awesome seeing them get "SMACKED"! Rapala's, "hang on cause somethings gonna try to rip the rod from you".

    Gentlemen,
Flies,  or anything that can be fished on a fly rod.  I will use live bait or a fly/waxie combo but the rod is almost always a fly rod.  2d choice is a noodle rod and I'll even fish a weighted fly on one of those.  Trust me guys, if you have ever had a medium sized pike smack a streamer when you were fishing for big trout...  Don't stay on long but while they are on..  Yee.Haaaa!  Ronnie, I think the fly is dry by now.

Very difficult question to answer with just a word or two. Tooooo many variations and styles/types of fishing to consider. Anything from lazy summer carp and cat fishin', Lg and Sm mouth bass  to consider with a fly rod or light spinning gear to different kinds of toothy critters that chase wiggling plugs, not to mention steel from a boat near shore or a fly rod on one of the tribs and then there are those tasty silver slabs in early spring. I love it all.

I kinda figured flys would be on top in this board....thanks guys.  If you're heading out tomorrow, good luck and be safe.
