Proposed Crayfish Ban

I just caught this article from Everything Smallmouth and it may affect some guys in Erie in the coming Smallie season of 2014.

I myself can totally understand the reason for the ban but what is everyone elses feelings?

    I smallie fish but it won't affect me. It's artificials only on my line.

    Good post/article Mags00! It would affect me not using live ones, but I'd be in favor of the ban. Those Rusty Crayfish play havoc with the native crayfish population and like many invasive species, whether they be plant or animal, they take over rapidly.

    The only crayfish that I ever use, are ones that I pull from under rocks in the water that I am fishing.  That would kind of suck being illegal, but would completely understand.  That said, if it passes and I was having a slow day, and saw a bunch of them swimming around, I wouldn't think twice about grabbing one and putting on a hook to save from a skunking...
