Quantum Noodle Rod?

Anyone ever use or have any knowledge about the QUANTUM AFFINITY IM7 9' Noodle Rod? I am thinking about getting one for about $30 and was hoping to get a little input from others before buying this rod. Or should I be looking at something else for this price? Thank you in advance for all replies.

The noodle rod isn't as important as the reel that you put on it when fishing for steelies (IMO).  The rod for $30 will be find as long as you get a nice quality reel with a good smooth drag.

I have one. No problems EXCEPT, unless they have included ceramic ( or other material ) inserts on the guides, do not use any superbraid lines. My use of Fireline resulted in groove in the bare metal tip of mine. With straight mono, it should be fine.

Thank you for your input. Also, does anyone like or used the Shimano Sidestab reel from Wal-Mart? I was thinking of purchasing it. Thank you again.

    fishon,
I have one and have used it for about 3 years.  Never had any problems.  Use a shimano graphite reel with 6 pound test.  Again cheap and no problems.  However what works for one person may not be good for another.  IMO it is a great place to start.

I have a sidestab 4000 that i bought to help balance the noddle rod. I like it and all other shimano reels i have got over the years but the bail no longer closes unless i do it by hand. It does not get that much use and i feel the bail should have lasted longer. For $30 its cheaper to get another one than to repair it.
