Quebec

Well I am back from my trip.  I will get some pics up later, but honestly I did not take many between the rain and honestly not alot of big fish.   Rustic camping at it's best we set up camp in the rain and it sucked.    2 guys close to 70 and me and one guy has a bad back and the starts of COPD so most of the heavy lifting and set up was down to me .  These guys took care of me when I was younger , first brought me up there,  and pretty much taught me how to fish so it was my pleasure to make it possible for them to go again.   Skeeters were thick as hell, but we were smart enough to bring a screen room so at least eating and relaxing was bearable   Cleaning fish was a blood bath.
Now to the fishing.   plenty dink walleye throughout the week.   Up there the minimum size is 13 inches so limiting out in both morning and afternoon was easy.    We only wanted to keep bigger fish and that's where the troubles came.   I was able to get 1 or 2 fish above 18 a day,   biggest were 20, 21, 23 and .   The others did worse than me   not getting any in the 20's and only 2 or 3 above 16 all week.  All fish taken on jigs and the occasional dink perch jigged up from the bottom.    Never fished for pike but managed to jig up 5 or 6, biggest around 30.      Fished up there alot of years  and caught these weird fish and always thought they were a garbage fish.   Come to find out they are a sport fish    called Coregone    http://en.wikipedia.org/w...bsp;    caught plenty of them.    They fight like crazy.

No real issues, throttle linkage popped out once and only tinked one rock.      Very limited space and lots of jigging so no fly rod.

Great trip and very good times.  Almost 6 lbs of fillets so not so bad.

Nice trip report Clint... sounds like you had a great time. Always something special when you are able to give back especially when you are able to give back to the ones that gave to you earlier in life ..... I am sure they really appreciated your efforts and will have some great memories. Nice job.

Sounds like a nice time .
When you are doing the heavy lifting just concentrate how much pleasure you got when they were doing it for you.

TB there was a little drinking of Canadians finest.
There was not one thing in the world I would have rather done than go with these folks.   It's funny the friendships we form.   Who would of thought a high school  girlfriends father would have ended up being one of my best friends throughout life.
Even though they are 25 to 30 years older than me  I really enjoy their company and we have alot of fun talking, fishing  and even goofing around.

FYI a C pap will run 5 days on a fully charged marine deep cell..............

100% deet goes a long way   and those OFF fan things  really do work a bit.   The screen tent was a god send though.   I also wish I would have brought some raid flying insect killer  to spray the tent a few minutes before we entered.

Rained every day, but what's new made for good walleye weather
