Hens not nesting?

I have seen several nice hens wandering around in the morning and going to gobblers.  I was told these hens are not going to reproduce.   Is this an accurate assessment?
 

The only thing better than 1 day of fishing is 2 days of fishing.

    Not necessarily. They could be hens that lost their first nest and are in the process of trying again. Hens will attempt a second and sometimes a third nest before giving up and even though they don't need the gobbler again they may continue to hang with him and breed while laying the eggs.

     Have had a mature hen for the past two Summers up in SR Country in my backyard- Each Summer she has come through with 2  Poults in July/August that are SMALL- likely too small to grow enough to get through the Winter- but she keeps on trying.
     Predators galore there- likely killin off the first batches of eggs.
      Have read here that if they actually hatch the young they likely wont re-breed but if the eggs go they likely will try another batch.

    Yep. Could be laying or first nest was destroyed and starting all over.

    Thanks for the replies.  Most of the gobblers I was working had hens go to them.  They would not come to me.

    Sometimes if you wait until they are done breeding and the hen starts feeding you can call her to you and if she comes the gobbler will follow.
    It's hard to find many gobblers alone for long in the morning as only about 1 in 4 nests actually make it to the hatching stage so there are always some hens running around that will go to the gobblers. The first couple days after some 80 degree weather is most productive in the later part of the season as the hot weather forces the hens on the nests.

    S-10   Thanks for the info.  I wondered why most of the gobblers I heard had hens with them and going to them.   I thought more than 1 in 4 nests would make it to the hatch stage.
     
    I waited for a couple hours after the gobbler was with the hens but got no results.    And I did hear more gobblers after the 80  degree weather hit.
