Where to drift/cast for eyes?

Hi everyone. Son and me are coming up for a two day trip on the 1st out of PIB for smallmouth. The problem is the wife has threatened me with harm if I don't bring back some fillets. My hope is to get a little walleye fishing in when my bass thumb is raw. I've been up trolling for eyes before out in the trenches but don't have the boat for such ventures. (18ft f/s)Was wondering if anywhere within a few miles of the bay is worth targeting walleye. The cribs maybe? Depth? Best times...etc. Hope someone can share a bit. If need to keep private send a message. ID hate to fake my wife out with a hunk of sheepshead. Thanks everyone.

    Better go to the supermarket and buy some walleye lol. I have heard of a couple guys picking up a few while perch fishing

    There is no need to look for walleyes out in the trenches this early in the year.
    There are plenty of walleye to be had in 25-35' of water off the point as well as to the east and west of walnut pulling cranks 40-75 back 1.5-1.8 mph. Purple reef runners were good today.

    I sure appreciate that info. I have a few reef runners an just so happens one is Sorta purple. got a gold 1 and chartreuse 1 too. Also a big ball of worm harnesses that need untangled. Anyway, thanks for the great report.

    Eyeassassin...My wife actually said to me one time when I cleaned some crappie and presented her with the fillets, "I hope it's good cause it took a lot of money to catch them"

    Trips over. No walleye. But I did manage enough perch and fat rock bass to fill a half gallon bag with fillets. Now about the bass fishing....it's unbelievable! Everyone knows how good the smallmouth are in erie but what about those largemouth. It's like every lm we caught was a solid 2-3 pounds. I'll be back every year now just for the bass fishing in and near the bay.
