Port Clinton

Quite a few years ago I fished there with some friends and had a blast. We pitched Erie Dearies in 20FOW and killed the eyes. Although I do love trolling, I also really like to feel the hit. I've heard that they have party boats out there that are pretty reasonable in price. I was thinking about maybe getting some guys from church to go on a trip. The problem is, I don't know what time of year is best for catching eyes out there. Does anyone have any info about this? Thanks folks.

Call fishermans warf. They have big walk on head boats like in erie pa for perch. Same concept out west but for eyes. The head boats will be on fish well into the summer. Its a cheap way to cast for some eyes. Yes its true, Port Clinton is the walleye capital. There is no better place for walleye fishing. The spawn usually ends about may 1. However there are fish to be had there almost year round. The best times frames are mid march through june and then in the fall from september til Christmas once the migrating fish move back into to their winter haunts.

Great people out west too. Not like these jags on this site or at da nut!

    Here is their site.

It's late for the best fishing out there, true there are fish to be had until July or so but the junk will move in fast once the water warms up.

I would like to get out to Port Clinton this year.  I don't know much about the area.  Any recommedations on a place to stay?  Basic drifting/casting?

We just came back last week stayed at the fishersman inn.  Nice place lots of beds we had 6 guys and everyone had a bed.  Another good place is wildwings Marina.  There were still males in the reef complex last week they will probably be moving out deeper.  Either troll reef runners or cast and count down weapons.  We caught our fish near Niagara reef just north of the black flag.  Good luck
