Wading for walleye

I'll be up in Erie later on this evening for work and was going to try and do some wading. Anyone have any info if the walleye have started to come in in the evenings? Was thinking of doing some wading in and around some of the creeks/streams areas. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for the response. In other words is anyone wading for the walleye in any streams/creeks? Was thinking of throwing my waders in the car and trying to give it a shot and wasn't sure if it was worthwhile or not.

It's May 7th. The season started on the 4th. It's a pretty sure bet, someone's wading for Eyes.  It's also a pretty sure bet they're not going to tell you they are, or if they're catching. They don't want any more company than they already have.

Here's a tip. If you wait for someone to give you the "green light'. you're going to be at least a week late to the dance.

The current near shore surface temps are about 50 degrees. I wouldn't be too concerned with temps. I was trolling for walleye at Christmas and filling my cooler in port clinton. Walleye don't stop eating because its cold. Walleye season in pa is open. Go out an get them. There are plenty of fish to be had. But you must design your program around the current temps and haunts of the fish at this time of year. We are starting to pic a few up trolling for lakers. If I'm getting them out there, you will have no problem sticking some near shore at night. Especially these nice evenings with a light southern wind....

a few have been getting picked up at night trolling off shore, they started at trout run and went west and did ok the beginning of the week. If your wading try mouth of elk, they may come in for some smolts.

Whats the secret? Do only a few eyes come in at nite to the shoreline? Is lake Erie too small of a lake to handle the fishing pressure at night?

Normally this is the time of year for it to happen. Wading is one of my favorite ways to catch them at night. But, it has been colder longer. If the Lake settles down, go for it.

Went up last night to the mouth of Trout Run from 7:30 til 10:40.  About 10 guys there at one point.  Didn't get a hit and didn't see or hear anybody else get a hit.

And that, Bill, is the truth.

I was talking to a couple of vets at the VA today and they were saying about the walleye being about ten feet shallower than the perch.
