Awesome pics John.. Those trucks put on a heck of a show ..
While I couldnt help but too root for the underdog against the favorite, the digger for sure Dennis goes way above and beyond to please the fans at all cost !! He Trashed his truck in the freestyle and had the crowd on their feet.. My grandson still wont stop talking about gravedigger..
The green mamba has been around for ages.. Again, had the fans on their feet for the big burn down ..
WAY back in the day, as the pics will show my youth, I raced stock cars.. It was a blast but an expensive endevour that today in these times I could never afford.. So glad to see the sport still going ..
Sadly I have few pics and only many memories..
Here is my first : Back then one could hit the track at age 15 with parents consent..
1968 dodge dart with a wicked 340 engine that would pull the front end up off the ground.. We had to weld the motor mounts and chain them from ripping out..
The next year they made us change the number and I became track champion:
After I totally trashed that car it was on to a 1971 baracuda which once again became track champion:
A big crash and bent frame ended the season and on to a new car.. 1970 (i think)dodge charger
Finally I decided to join the big dogs with a mod:
Big mistake, too much money for too tough comp..
we raced orange county (middletown) , fonda, weedsport, rolling wheels and yes the moody mile at syracuse..
went broke, sold car and went on tour with Jorma..
Boy I miss those days of old but today having family and friends more the make up for things as new memories are created every day..
