I agree the extra exposure can't help the fishing , but from what I take it's more about the economical impact for the local businesses.

Personally, I don't think it will add much to the chaos. Here is why 1) I had to look for 20 minutes to find the stinking channel. 2) I would not have even known to look for it if not for this and another forum. 3) If I am on these forums I already know about the fishery 4) It is less about the fishing and more about the economic's I think that many of the viewers will already have knowledge of the river and the show will not add that many more anglers. Anyway that's hopes....................

It wil be on Tues @ 2:30 AM....Sat @ 10:30 AM....and Thurs 1 PM.....now all I have to do is find the sportsman channel if we get it here. You're correct in saying it will probably not increase the people on the river.

The Sportsman Channel is a extra pay channel. Cablevision/Optimum charges an additional $7- to 9.- per month for access. I already pay over $200.- per month for telephone, internet and TV (Premium Gold package).

Gerry,I guess that is whyI can't find it in my cable line up,I don't pay for that premium stuff! That narrows the viewing audience down a bit :)

Jack, Precisely my point, I have the top of the line package and many channels are not included. Top of the line is not so top of the line.

Yea, our local cable co will carry it in the fall. I would guess late Sept. to coincide with the real run.

Maybe you are correct about it not increasing the pressure, but last fall, a lot of the extra guys on the river were downstaters and Jersey and Conneticut folks who got blown off the salt by Sandy, and they were basically responding to word of mouth. Around here, it seems that every time the paper runs and article about some spot for fishing or hunting, a whole bunch of newbies, or old timers who gave it up for a while, come out of the woodwork and crowd things up for a season or two. I am sure the business community will love it, they would probably make prostitution legal if they could, so the visitors could enjoy some hooking at night, too. Department of Environmental Commerce! The only saving grace left in this fishery is that spots like the lower Niagara and the Genesee require some actual work to get into and out of so a lot of the casual newbies won't make the effort, and those of us still willing and able to hike and climb a couple of miles can sometimes enjoy a little solitude (which is usually about 35-40 feet of seperation on the Genny). And the smaller tribs require vigilant observation and timing, because the fish are only there when the water is, so local have an advantage on that one. And as a last resort, there is private access. What do you think DSR will jack the price to after the TV exposure? L13

For sale Fisherman's Paradise! We shoulda bought it when we had the chance. Never imaged private access as it is now but that tackle shop we talked about with a lot to hold 50-100 cars at $5 cash a whack woulda filt the wallets pretty good. Course who was gonna lend money to people like you and me (especially me).

Heck-- I remember parking out on the road and stumbling through the woods and ravines in the dark for the 'right spot' before there ever was a DSR. I was always happy they made the place- decent parking and stairs- even a porto pottie -lol. Then the price went up.

I can only wonder whether we will see a mega-corp buy DSR, build a conference center and hotel, put in a championship golf course, condo's, heliport and offer membership by letter of introduction only.

Having watched The Run twice, I never knew you were allowed to fish at night by boat. I was looking to see if they would show some of the areas I fish. [Not giving up the names.] While I recognized some of the areas pictured, I'm still looking to see more fishing from shore. I have recognized quite a few sites shown and, I'm looking forward to seeing more of the show.

I think it's only legal at night up in the Estuary. I cannot watch it until the fall as I do not have the package.

You can fish the lake up to the first bouy into the estuary. After April 15 till aug 15 regular angling regulations apply. It's all spelled out in the regulations guid when one purchases a license . Sadly most don't bother understanding the regs
