4/6/13

Was up at before o dark o thirty  and went up was the 3rd car in the lot and of course the first one was in the spot I wanted.   I got there at 430.   Set up on the  north side instead.   Started fishing a 610 and had 2 to the bank by 730 and missed a few.  Hits were very sparse after that.   There were 4 guys total around me.   at 1030 I heard the guys across from me say they were going to leave soon and my feet were cold  so I yelled over and asked if they would wait until I came over as I wanted that spot they said sure.  There were about 7 guys now and all were on the north side.   I made it over and and they left.   I was slow until about noon with a few head shakes at noon it picked up a bit .    A fine young boy of about 10 netted 2 of my fish and after the second one I gave him my spot and moved up a bit,    i really wanted to see him hook up, but alas he did not.   From noon to 4   I banked 5 fish and had my best day landing fish at 7 total.   I have some pics and a story, but I have ot take a nap so I can watch tht SU game tonight so they will follow.

PS it looked as if one of the fish was spent and had dropped her eggs

Sorry guys Photobucket is saying the pics are not there and they are.   I will try later.

I will get to the stories of the day.
First off I have to give a big thanks to Randy Jones and the info/ articles  he gives/writes.   Earlier this year I read his web page on how to fight the fish and where to keep the rod positioned.  With people around me chasing fish down the rapids, falling and getting wet and often losing the fish,   I am finding more and more  I can "usually"  land my fish very close to where I  hook it.   Yea, every now and then You get a screamer,  and it is chase it or lose it,  but with a bit of maneuvering 75% of the time I can get them turned around even after a long run down stream.

Today was 3 part day.   O dark O thirty,   The Jersey BoyZ
    and the father and son.
    O  Dark
Got up early, got there early,  was not first.   Went in  and I was the first one on that side.  when I went to cross the diversion there must have been 30 fish that scattered.     Feet got cold, guides iced up bad.   Landed 2 fish.
While walking out  I see some guy  stalking around the diversion,  walk by and go a bit, turn around and he is in the middle of it again.   I can't stand it and I walk back and he quickly get out again and pretends to be looking at his reel.   I  get fairly close and see the pair of fish in there and just yell out  "really" .   I stood there until he stalked off

    Jersey Boyz
So after moving to the south side I am fishing for a bit and in come  a group of 5 or 6 guys, that are loud and  laughing and  picking on each other.   I am at my bag on the bank tying on a new fly and they roll in.   With the whole wall open they make a B line right towards me, 2 go  past me towards the pines and one just throws his stuff down like 5 feet from me, heads right to where I was fishing and gets ready to cast without even a hello.   I clear my throat loud and he looks over and I tell him  that  that's where I was fishing.  I figure here we go, but he says he is sorry and moves up from me.   One guy way up from me gets into one and he is fighting it for a while,  a few minutes later I see it floating by .   I am beginning to think OK these guys are real AZZholes.      Every one is fishing and there is one guy that obviously has never fly fished before as he is thanking one of the guys for letting him borrow the pole.   He is standing just down from me, standing right in the seam he should be fishing and not casting well.   All the guys are picking at him.    All of a sudden I hears a wizzing and he starts yelling like a mad man hooting and hollering and the fish is stripping  him bad,  he tries to stop it and gets whacked by the handle,   drops the pole and  grabs it from the water.   I was a long and glorious fight, but he landed it.    The rest of the fishing goes on without an issue, they are pretty polite,  I talk with a few of them and one guy even netted 2 fish for me.
    Father and son
They left after 2 hours and a father a son move in down fro me.   The boy was so excited to be there and tried to net a fish for his dad and he missed it.   I got one one and the dad offers to net for me,  the son has the net and I say let  him do it.   I reassure him if I do not  get it, I am not concerned at all and would love it if he could get it.   He did a great job and ended up netting 2 fish for me and one for his dad.   I let him have my spot on the rock  as I really wanted him to hook up bad, but he did not.   He ended up getting wet getting his dads fish and they left the same time I did, but  I took a good pic for them holding the fish together.

DEC was a bit late today and just asked how the fishing was, he floated through at 130 or so.    I was another eggy day for me, with top producer again being a creme egg and pink steel head hammer.   I also picked up some on Estaz eggs in pink and chartreuse.   I also got my first fish on an indicator today.   Not  tons of hook ups for a 10 hour day, but landing 7 was my best day.   Thanks to the net men I had today, big props to them for helping.   Overall it was one of those days that you had to pick away  and almost everyone who stayed for a while could pick up a few hits.

If you are lurking HT I did pick up one on the SRS too.

Sorry this is a long one.
