report 4/3 till 4/5

Got up later on Wed and watched a couple of hookups in LFZ. Weather in low 30s and still lotsa snow in some places. Yard bout half grass and half snow.
Thurs AM  went to my favorite little stream in the World . Walked about 3/4 mile of stream mainly in woods and never saw a single fish or bed. EARLY up there- Walking on 6 in to about 18 in of packed white. Stream running nice and clear could see from bank to bank.
Couldnt bring myself to fight the upriver Zone crowds or even to fight off the tonsa boats up there so went low. Fished from below 81 hole to the island by the ballpark NO fishes seen or hooked only two other guys around- No luck either.
Then picked  up some garden hackle and fished the Town pool for a while- one other guy there- Nada again.
Thurs had been in the 30s all AM but just managed 50 very late in the day- Late I went to the LFZ to watch and on that warm weather they were doing pretty good- couldnt bring myself to stand in a line though- just lurked. lol
This AM 30s again and I decided to try up river just to hook up at least one. 3 boats all in the Ellis curve pool with lotsa guys around more boats above and below- Went to LFZ and lurked a few minutes at the line of guys   and all the cars - closed up the house and headed OUT.
Was gonna stay longer but hope for another trip in a coupla weeks. Politics and Municipal budget woes allowing. Was hearing bout drop backs but from what I saw its still quite early-also still think that cept for here and there way upriver there isnt much Steel action this whole season. Some hitem in regular Winter lies but beyond that ??????
Hey-read that Palladium article bout ALtmar- Pnase 1 is 2.2 mil and hopefully open for FLY fishermen in late Sept. ( thats 40 rooms and a restraunt) two more phases to follow- cabins and a meeting hall.. Yea -they say EXCLUSIVE rights to 1700 ft of 'frontage' on the river.

Good  honest report RG.  At this point I don't mind rubbin' elbows a bit to get into some.   All the fish I have seen on the last week were still full of eggs, but fat.        I am getting up at  O'dark  O'thirty  to try and get a good spot tomorrow, for a few hours.

Downriver was pretty open Clint one or two or no cars in all the spots down there- Nobody around many runs I could see from driving past too. Spells NO fish to me-  usually there is some action down there most all season.
Think that what few  fish there were have moved well up during the water pushes this Winter.
Gotta wait to see but have always thought many of the feeder spawners were fresh fish. Have seen way too many bright fish in them when they start their run in the Spring and then see them color up as it goes into spawn time-has happened that way for 30 years . Yea some dark ones  and more as time goes on- but first - generally very bright fishes- NOT drops - this is before that.
Real quick some years- think this will be one of those times. Miss a week or 10 days this season I kinda think ya might miss the best of it.
Betcha those DSR reports pickup on the newcomers soon as the weather breaks.
They had a spurt a coupla weeks back when it broke a little.
