Erie Shad and Algae

Any word from governing bodies on the cause of the "unusually large shad die off? Or is it just typical? My father was in Erie on Saturday and said it was pretty bad and a gentleman he spoke with said it's one of the worst in years... Also, the algae bloom in the western basin any news on that?

    The shad kill is absolutely nothing new. It just hasn't happened in a while. The beach used to be littered with the things every spring.

    Good basic info on the situation which I did not understand before reading.
    Thought of your "name" yesterday I landed a fresh hen with a spoon in its mouth must have broken you off-thanks for the spoon its now in my tackle box.

    Musta been pretty rusty. I haven't opportunity to chuck a spoon at them for 4 years or so.
