What do you guys expect at 4:30 in the AM. I was (as usual) a bit confused by the date. TB I got that as soon as I read it, kind of fitting. Good natured ribbing at it's best. Jack you know it is not the first or last time I will get the date wrong. Now for the report of 3/30 Got up at 4:30 to try and get up and get the spot I wanted. Waled down at 5:20. As it turns out I was not the first one there and the only guy on the south side was where I wanted to be. Set up down a bit which was OK by me. There was about 7 folks on the other side. Guess I better get up earlier. At 6:20 I let it rip and I hooked up by 6:25. Drift boat came by at 7:15 with one officer and he yelled out that everyone was to hold their weights out for him to examine as he went by. He did not get out of the boat at all. fished till 2:00 as I wanted to get home to watch the SU game at 4:30. I banked 1 fish and had 6 or 8 good fights with fish that got the best of me. Flies of the day were again Little green bean caddis, peach eggs and pink steelhead hammers. Most fish were coming from the usual places and they were starting to warm up to bigger stuff. 5 to 1 ratio on of females to males from what I saw caught. Here is my gripe for the day for the guy next me. If I offer to net 2 fish for you and take your picture the least you could do is offer to help net mine not stand there. Also I would think you would learn after tangling with me several times and several times with guys down and across from you that it's pretty rude to cast almost to the other bank and swing the whole friggen pool then let out another 50 feet of line at the end. You've heard of hero drifts these were hero swings. The third time with the guy across he cut his fly and told him to come and get it if he wanted it. I refused to help on the 3rd fish. He left shortly after. He should stay with the other Speytards. Crowds were not horrible where I was and a few times throughout the AM there were only 6 or 7 folks around both sides. When I left it was getting pretty full. Parking lots down to pineville had cars Maybe tomorrow.............. Maybe not................

Have to ask the wife where we are sitting. This is the 4th or 5th time we have saw them. They always play old and new stuff. With the 3 new albums out there should be plenty. We have never been disappointed. Bad religion....... that brings back memories

Clint as usual excellent report and maybe someone who reads your words of wisdom (gripe) will take notice.. Kinda knew you were a bit confused and probably a little excited to hit the water.. No biggie to me as I'm ALWAYS confused.. Nice to hear they are warming up to the big stuff. Hope things settle down by Monday afternoon into the week with people because about all I intend to throw is Big Stuff, SRS :) Ain't no speytard and don't need to swing across the river but do want a little peace .. Seen Green Day once and only once, Woodstock 1994 I was part of the Mud People :) Have a blast man ..

HT I tried that today with no results, but the guy next to me and a guy way down from me was picking away at them with bigger stuff. I should rephrase he was a Speytard Wannabe. Over all though a beautiful day. PS I hope charlie remembered his Pam as Ice build up the first 2 hours was a bear

If someone wants to swing those spey flies they should go to a place where they have the room to do that, at the LFZ it's only a matter of time that they get their line cut,or worse. Glad to hear someone is getting into some fish Clint, maybe my time will come again one day.

I kind of figure if the person swinging was there first, he can keep swinging and it is my job to swing too or work between his drifts. If he starts stretching the drifts, I figure I can say something. But I don't think I can just walk in on someone already fishing down and start upstream nymphing or chuck and ducking at him, and figure I have some right of method or something. L13

Agreed with you L13. Technically I was there fist as I came in at 5:20 and he was right behind me at 5:30. When your there that early.............. You got it though he kept stretching and stretching his drift. He started drifting and move on to swinging. Sometimes swinging across the river other times extending 20 to 30 feet in front of me. A few times I was afraid he was going to stick my boots when he brought it in. You just can't expect to do that in the Zones.

X2 He who is on the water first getith to set the technique. I fit in as I can or go somewhere else. I fish a lot of lesser water these days giving others there space. That said if I am first I will shorten my line to accommodate people that arrive after me.

I don't know, I like space be it the zones or the DSR.. I gauge how others are fishing and like to give a little extra, only wish folks up there would do the same instead of seeing that space as an open spot.. Cant stand the time the cast thing.. Maybe I'm getting old and grumpy in my age but there is plenty of water , be it the Salmon river or ADK's.. db, I wouldn't mind seeing a little 1,000 flows next week myself ;) PS: Nice Phatty Clint

Would rather be lonely with few if any fishes around than have to get all pizzed where there are lotsa fishes. Put up with other ignorant peoples Bs all my professional life DONE. A bit of solitude and relaxation are my kinda fishin. Actual fishes are secondary.
