Flashers on Open Water
Ever done it? Does it help? Is it better than a fishfinder? Does it work as well as on the ice?

No, but we did have some college girls flash us on the Clarion River one time... As for the flasher/fish finders, yes, they work well. Would I trade them for my sonar on my boat? NO...
Curiosity killed the cat, but for awhile I was a suspect.

SD, I've used mine from my boat. It works well when I'm ancored and just dropping bait down to the suspended fish or vertical jigging. This year I'm going to rig up an arm to clamp on to the side of my boat to hold the transducer out away from the hull a ways. It's a little difficult getting the bait in the foot print of the sonar while using a longer rod unless you are in fairly deep water.

I was thinking the same thing. I could probably rig something to go into the hole for my oar locks. I'm even considering using an ice rod.

That's what I like to hear. Do you beef up your line on your ice rods or do you stick with the 2# that you were running in the winter?

I used my ice rods quite a bit. Might have looked silly but it was effective.

Jeeters, how well do you do at Pymie jigging for eyes with an ice rod? I've been daydreaming about that. lol. Do you use jigs or blade baits?
