nice pike today

Sorry if their sideways I rotated them on the photobucket , but it did not take.   35 1/2  inches.   Biggest through the ice.   Had to go out alone again and left the gaff in the bucket.   If the young kid of about 12 next to me would not have came over with his gaff I would have lost it.    Caught about 50 perch with 15 or so in the 8 to 12 inch keeper range.  Going out tomorrow too, but the nephew is coming .   I also lost a pole today.  I had it in a rod holder and turned my back for a split second and it was gone.   Heard a noise and poof no more pole never even seen it go down.   Don,t know how it came out of the holder, but it must have been a big un to get it down that fast.   Luckily all my ice rods are made of broken poles and pretty crappy reels.   All seasons it 10% off so I may get a new one tomorrow.    Hard water around here may fade fast so I amgetting it while I can.

Keep em tight
Clint

    Nice pike Clint.

    Whats wiff the yellow bibs?
Looks like he caught ya mid business.
Now I get while my serious hard water friends pull those little pop up tents with the holes cut in the floor.
Long day on the ice = need for some "alone" time.
Doesn't look like anyones crowding you.
    That's always sweet.

Looks like your can sleep as much as me tonight.   I was fumblin' to get my phone out of my pocket so the pants were half down,   but I was caught a at least once mid business yesterday.   There were a bunch of folks there, but  plenty of room,  Nothing like the LFZ on a  nice day in November though.    Will be leaving in a few hours to go back.   Your right the alone time is good.  It seems like it flies by especially when the perch are nibblin.

Carp fishin with my son when he was about 8 and I hear a noise look up iin time to see his zebco 33 mid air 3 feet up and 5 feet out from the bank.
Him 12 feet up in a tree.
    Lemons into lemonade.
He pulls out some boondoogle cordage ties it to a broken branch, puts a piece of mono on, takes one of my killer flies and catches one.
He's 25 now and we still talk about it.

Yep TB, not the first one I have lost probably will not be the last.
Went up today and it was much colder and   snowing, although the wind was not horrible it was bad enough to cut through you.   Hand enough at about 1100 as the fish were really not cooperating and we were cold so I pulled up the tip ups.  Just when we got them in it sort of cleared and we decided to stay and just jig.   Fished for 2 more hours and it picked up pretty good and ended the day at 2 with a good run.  My buddy caught a pike jigging and since I got into her belly with the gaff we kept her at 23 inches.    Got about a pound of perch fillets each day.
Man, there is so little meat, especially on the smaller ones, try not to keep anything less than 8 inches unless it is a  deep hook.
Anyone know how to fillet pike  getting rid of the Y bones.   No matter what I do there are still some in there.

Hopefully next weekend there will still be some ice

I usually C&R  the slime logs too, but I got into her belly deep and could see eggs spilling out so no release.  I checked out the U tube videos and have some ideas for next time
    Beer and pancake batter...................
Figure on some river fishing next month or so.   Ice changed this weekend.  So we will see how it works out.  Still want to get a few more bags of perch in the freezer.

On a side note I just baked up that coho I caught in October and saved for eggs.   It was still silver and eggs tight in skeins  It was not half bad and tons  better than the last shark  we tried.   We baked it in some sort of marinade my wife made.

Hey Tuna- My putor was constantly crashing and so slowww I could brew Coffee while waiting for it to fire up in the AM.
Got a new firewall and a virus cleaning by a company that actually called on the phone- first robo call thing I had ever bought.
    Its like new again.
Was on the verge of throwing it out for a new one.

For like 20 bucks I got a reboot disk from the manufacturer, Dell I think mine was.
It erased everything in my hard drive and reprogrammed to how the manufacturer programmed it.
Lost all the info stored but that was going to happen anyways if I had to recycle it.
If you have to toss it go on line and download one of those free programs that overwrite everything hundreds of times so no criminal geeks can steal all your personal info.

    What program you running?
Microsoft stops updating programs, read as wants to sell windows 8, so old school xpis a **** and vista is about to get dicey.

Mine was $170 which is likely a bit of a gouge- (robo call) -but they did in in a day and I havent lost one single program on the Putor.
Considering all the political stuff and that my wife is president of a large golf club our contacts and other related info is huge and would have been a real  deal to replace. Not to mention stuff like the forum.
This is likely as good as it was when first purchased and the cleaning and firewall and virus eliminator has saved me a ton of aggervatin and cash for a new system.
The company was UTH and its website is on the putor. Pricey but I would recomend it-and I dont do that  often.

Well my computer seems to be feeling better right now without a buzzing HD.. That makes working it , ok..
Picked this topic for 2 reasons:
1: Ice is nice and glad to hear your enjoying it Clint..
2: there is no silly signature that may get clicked ..

    Info on Electronics:
Total game changer for sure.. They are way over priced and many are just plain JUNK..
IMO you don't need the biggest and the best but you need NOT waste money on a piece of junk..
I bought mine right here on FishUSA (heck thought I didn't spend money here ) ..
If one is truly interested in one I can give suggestions towards many, pros vs cons..

I also remarked towards a Last Call.. Well by weeks end our Local ice may be in serious danger.. Nothing below freezing night temps:
Here was the look I had  7am yesterday:

Up north I think there will be a solid 3-4 weeks left and I'm putting most my chips toward this upcoming.. Another 3 day hard water adventure.. I have walked on water every week since before christmas and honestly it's starting to wear thin.. I'm ready for at least a sniff on the SR..

Why I don't post many ice fishing reports:
Guys I love my waters, many are local or in the ADK's which I feel local to me ..
Believe me I have almost 3 months worth of pictures..
I don't want THIS where I ice fish:

This was the parking lot yesterday,
I was the only person there with another local walked onto the ice..
It don't get pressure at all but yet still .. Probably car tossers more the fishers but I don't want to invite any more trash by saying , fish here !!
Finally , this is how I roll for any interested icers out there..

    Pretty sleek and mobil..
The Can was for effect:: lol.. I clean up after myself..

    Enjoy :)

Can't view it either, but by the size you gave that's a nice fish.
