Any open water?

I am looking to make a trip up on Monday the 25th.  I am going to be bringing a 1st time steelhead fisherman with me.  How are the conditions looking as far as ice-up goes? How are water conditions looking?  I wanna show him a good trip but don't want to make the 3 hour trip if it is poor conditions.

    Pretty good shot of cold for the next couple days, but the forecast beyond that looks warm enough that the tribs shouldn't get locked up with ice. I fished last Thursday for the first time in 2 months, and everything was in good shape.  Good numbers of fish in upper Elk where I was. 
     
    Kinda hard to predict exactly how conditions will be this far out from Monday, but looking at the forecast, you should be good for Monday.  Reports on various websites indicate pretty good fishing all over Erie County the last few weeks when weather permits. 
     
    Keep an eye on the Walnut gauge over the weekend.

    John, wait till saturday and then start checking conditions....they will change 10 times between now and then.  
    Ill be working in Girard on thursday (temps in the 20's with 25mph winds ) so ill let ya know how it is when i go up.  Not sure if ill fish yet.

    Thanks alex.  Just either text me or send me a pm on here.  I am hoping to make the trip just dont wanna go up there blindly and discourage my buddy on steelhead fishing.

    Yep.. i would like to go sat and ive been checkin but you know how weather people get it wrong 90% of the time.. Then add in the fact that its erie.. Im learning that conditions are Very unpredictable.. Too warm and the snow melt blows out the creeks.. Too cold and ya gotta break through ice.. Anyway ill let ya know how things are sat if i go.
