I clicked on this by accident last week, capt. bay .com . My anti-virus stopped some sort of intrusion. hence the question, how can I predetermine if a site is trustworthy or not? To stay on topic, I'm scared unuff of the ice in the day. I most definately would not be out there at nite.

I was just down there--not to sure that I would risk it just yet.  Remember also that it is not very deep in there anymore.

I was just at Walnut a minute ago.  There are guys fishing on the ice on the marina.
I watched fish being caught upstream.

I am really interested in knowing how anyone could have been fishing Walnut at all before today as this is the first day that we have had any open water to speak of. The creek is still locked up from the bridge to the lake.  Perhaps other creeks were open for the last couple days, but I am not sure where or how. Except of course for a few notable warm creeks it has been an ice box here.

always have to explain to someone on this stupid board. If you know so much, you would have known the middle upper portions of pretty much all the creeks stayed 70 %  open, the rest you could just break out. The only problem was the freezing temps made the line into a icicle. We still caught a few each day with no one around. the lower parts alays freeze first and thaw last

My point of reference was Walnut, near the Marina.
I said that I was not sure where or how were open, but perhaps they were. Never claimed to know otherwise.
I grew up on Walnut, fished it, trapped it, hunted it, camped on it, and cracked ice from Rt. 20 to Sterrettania and rode the ice rafts downstream.
Undoubtedly, you fish a lot and do well. We are certainly blessed to have someone as knowledgeable as you on the board. Please, keep on posting.

It really never froze up after the last thaw as reported.

Not sure when or what part you are talking about, Bill. But the Manchester bridge to the lake is just now starting to open. manchester itself was open today. Pretty clogged up north of that.  Fishing the basin can be fun for some, I've not done it in a while.

Sorry twostring, I do not know the thickness of the ice. There were several guys on it today, One walking real carefully but I did not venture out myself. I probably should have asked.
