twin lakes

We are still catching Browns on top by dragging flies on top, past risers.Gills & perch moved deep, very few Crappie also.Wish I would have started dragging flies a month earlier, as it has been working well on the Brownies.  sam

We have had some sort of insects come up through a hole in the ice while we were ice fishing. Don't really know what type, I guess that they come up due to the heat & light triggering them. btw the last few evenings we watched a bat picking off bugs. I thought that they hibernated during the cold weather.  sam

Certainly not as common as trout rising in late May, but not at all unheard of.  A year or two ago, my new year's resolution for fishing was to take a trout on a dry fly in every month of the year.  January was by far the hardest, followed closely by February, but in each month, I was able to take advantage of a warm (40 degree) day to accomplish the deed.  Compared to those two months, March, December, and the rest were dead easy.

Was at the upper lake this afternoon, trout were still coming up,but less than earlier this week.Only coming up for about 10 min. at a time, then stop for 1/2 hr. then rising again. FYI, the boat house will be closed til Jan. 19. Both lakes are scheduled to be stocked by the state with trout Feb.13.   sam
