I'm new to the forum but been lurking a while. I live on the Yough River and fish frequently. I came here to help and be helped. Nice to be here.

Good luck with that. Seriously, you will get alot of smart arsed, useless responses to your queries. Have a thick skin, be patient, and don't make a big deal about. Once folks know you can take the heat. You'll get alot of very usefull rsponses as well.

Completely understandable lol I mainly target trout, carp, and catfish in my area. Looking for some new trout spots. Got into fly fishing, I'm not master but I'm learning.

No I live in Connellsville and fish primarily around Connellsville, usually up from Connellsville. Never fished down from Connellsville and its all shore/wade fishing.

I live near the Yough in Smithton. Never did good in this river. It's more me than the river. I guess I never really gave it a chance or learned to fish it. I have heard that there is some nice fishing up near Connellsville. I have a couple friends up their but they don't fish. Is there good shore access around there?

There is some good shore access, but its a lot easier if you want to wade. Park your car at the Connellsville Trail Head of the YRT and bike back a little bit towards Elk Rock in Dunbar, thats where the good trout fishing is. Those cold springs flowing into the warm river in the summer, the trout frenzy around em.

Welcome aboard! I live about 10 minutes form the Yough and use to fish it three to five times a week from a mile above Connellsville to Phills place below Dawson. Quite a variety of fish in that river and when they're cooperative it's a real blast. Wood, metal, feathers, fur or live bait there is almost always something ready to charge your offering.

Yeah there are definitely a variety of fish in there, seen snappers well over 50 pounds down by my house. I wouldn't eat anything that comes from below the South Connellsville Dam IMO.

Connellsville here too. Trout & Smallies all year, Walleyes are hitting right now. Lots of Sauger and a few decent Musky and an occasional Northern.

Most people don't favor the Yough for some reason... beats me Trophy Sized Trout closer then people think.

I'm new to the forum myself. I fish the yough a lot, mainly in the van meter, smithton area. A good variety of species, trout, smallies walleye and a muskie here and there. Always wanted to hit the connellsville area may have to sometime. I think it's a great fishery.
