Lake Erie, the world's greatest....

...concentrated plastic pollution in the world.

“We had two samples in Lake Erie that we just kept going back and rechecking the data, because the count, the number of plastic particles in the sample, was three times greater than any sample collected anywhere in the entire world,” SUNY chemistry professor and project lead Sherri Mason said.

Must be from all those plastic bottles the slobs throw down at their feet when they're empty.

Micro plastic particles polluting our waters = the new global warming.I'm going to apply for a 10 million dollar grant. I'll get to the bottom of this.

"The shedding of synthetic fibers from textiles by domestic clothes washing. A comparison of microplastic particles in sewage effluent from clothes washing with the makeup of microplastics in the environment has suggested that much of the microplastic pollution sized less than 1 mm may consist of shed synthetic textile fibers." -  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microplastics

I think fishing probably accounts for very little of the overall pollution.  Better stop wearing that nice warm fleece clothing, it's loaded with micro plastics as well as many other man made fibers used in clothing.   Maybe you guys with washer water that ends up in the lake should only wash your clothes once a season.  It would save on polluting the lake and also get you more elbow room on the streams at the same time!
