I "think" I recall seeing it at around 5 or 6,000 cfs a few years ago when there was a quick warm up with an inch+ of rain on top of snow.  Thinkin' that was in February or March. Someone had pics of the aftermath at Walnut and Elk access and there were sheets of ice all the way up in the parking lot.

From talking to an old timer I've been acquainted with in Erie though, nothing came close to what the remnants of Hurricane Ivan did in 2004.  Dunno what the guages were at then though.  And I could be wrong, but I don't think the Walnut gauge was around in '04.

I dont think Walnut records that data....if you look at some other gauges they break it down by percentile. I was looking at those earlier today and almost every single in southeast PA has set records for highs. I dont know exactly what year the gauge at Walnut was put in but if it was fairly recent maybe they dont have the data to record the all time highs?

Did I see the highway Dept boys. With a superduper salmon snaggin rig, hanging over the bridge?

    Could have been....

Actually it was the USGS guys.

And by  the way the CFS and gauge height are still climbing.  I have seen the lake push in as far as the bridge, so I am wondering if that might affect the reading.

I "think" that while an inward push from the lake would increase the stream height. It would also LOWER the flow rate, as it backed it up. ( at least until it "let's loose" ).

That is what I was thinking. I know that on the Jun 30 event the lake was chopped but not rolling in.  You could see the creek was running very far into the lake.

It is only going to go higher. There is over 20 miles of creek and almost 40 miles of basin.

Whoa. Just felt the house move.

As I was saying, there is a whole lot of water that is still going to get into the creek. With the leaves off, the trees and other vegetation will not be soaking up the water.
