Count your blessings, I saw more coverage of where it did hit.   I imagine if the SR went up 14 feet from surge, a lot of places up there far from the river and not normally flood plain would get flooded.  And the winds  and surge tore houses right off the foundations!  I'm just glad I didn't get hit with a tree like Tuna's, 'cause there are folks around me that did!

On the flip side -
   -My youngest Son is  a Lineman and is working along the Ct coast doing 'storm duty' only bout 25 miles as the crow flies from my home in Central Ct.
 He called after an 18 hr day today and said the Coast  got pounded with the winds and storm surge. As predicted along the coast. He will be there for days along with tree crews and many other Linemen repairing the damage and getting folks back on line.
 His home in land is also without incident like most all others not on the shoreline. Guess those great Ocean views come with many different kinds of prices.
 Hope those folks fare well.
  Have read little bout any negative impact in SR Country even though the TV shows that area in red color as being heavily impacted. Cant wait to get up and check things out.

I got back on the grid after being out for nearly two days.  Its time to have a generator installed, one that can run the whole house (electric, heat & well).  Putnam and Westchester (my home neck of the woods) are in a state of emergency.  Two young boys (11 & 13) died when a 100' oak fell on their house.  Trees are down everywhere and the power companies are saying 7-10 days before power is restored.  Be thankful that this storm wasn't as bad on upstate NY.

My dad was a lineman for 30 years.  It is a tough job.  He pulled many 20 hour days during his career during and after storms.

I'm very thankful!!!!  Some folks sounded miffed that they didn't get enough rain!

Just got a memo .. Gas is going up at least .40 per gal in next 2 days due to sandy.barges can not bring fuel up Hudson river

We get a 6,000 gal fuel delivery every 2 days. Yes 18,000 gal a week. That's not counting 42 tons of coal per hour we burn as well.
Got an FYI that it's all going through the roof in the next few days.
