That's a shame to hear about the company selling, Clint. I have a couple of favorite trout rods I bought in the late 80's form a small company in Vt. called Diamondback. Cortland bought them out around 2000 or so and still carried some blanks they brought over from the factory in Stowe, Vermont. A friend broke a tip on one of the rods playing around with it foolishly, and I was able to contact the rod shop and get them to dig out a new one for me. That's gone by the wayside. My first decent fly rod was a Cortland and I bought it in '69 with lawn mowing money.
I hope they survive in some form or other, I know when I talked to the guys in the rod shop, they said there jobs were now repair work only and production was going overseas. Like Temple Fork, if you break a rod, there'll be no repair, just replace. Doesn't help for fixing old, discontinued favorites. I'll have to visit there someday, always wanted to, sounds like a great place to shop for materials.
