Operation Decompress

Some days go by so fast...some turn very slowly.  Last week was one of the latter.  By Friday I was burned out, and I needed some of that precious commodity known as "me" time.  Time to relax and let the troubles and cares of the work week wash downstream and dissolve onto nothingness.

Water remained low and clear, and fish were certainly spooky.

Patience had its rewards, though:

Yes, that's a BLU woolly bugger.  Couldn't resist trying it.

I lost the fly in the next cast, and went to the T3.  It wasn't long before I hooked up with this mutant pig.

When streamers stopped drawing interest, I decided to try topwater action, despite the fact that there were no fish rising. But what to use?  Then I remembered that Doubletaper had given me a couple of grasshopper patterns last year at the Clarion River Outing.  I tied one on and cast to the bank.

Business was picking up, and soon the fish were aggressively hitting on streamers again.  So a T3 was in order again:

Back at camp, Dad had begun his annual canning ritual.  Grapes and corn here.  Apples next week.

On Sunday, Dad seemed pretty intent upon taking the boat out one last time.  Temps were nearly 70 degrees, and it was gorgeous out, so I happily joined him.  Scenery and fishing were awesome...spending the time with a great man was priceless.

By the time we made it back to the launch, all the stress was gone.  My shoulders didn't hurt.  My neck didn't ache.  I was top-down relieved and ready to head back into the abyss.  I took one more look out at the lonely water and headed for home.

LOL.  Every time I've tried tandems, I ended up with ""tanglems."

    We're due for a get-together, guys.
