outfitting new boat

Just bought a new boat for walleye and salmon (four winns 267 quest).  It has two electric downriggers and two planer board reels (one for each side) and was wondering what to spool my reels with?  Backing? main line? leader? lead core? fireline? flouro? etc.  Thanks

30# Power Pro, Mono backing, Fluorocarbon leader...
Mono on rigger rods, fluorocarbon leader...
    Leadcore, fluorocarbon leader...

You will want several rods done up each way, I have 8 rods with the power pro, 4 with mono, 2 leadcore and about 8 perch rods on my boat at all times and I have the bare minimum compared to lots of guys on here...

What bulldog said is right on. You need an arsenal of gear to give them what they want on a given day.  If you are just starting out though, I'd recommend keeping it simple..start with a few rods and gain confidence in that set up, then add to your spread as needed.   Make sure that you fill those spools all the way up or the line counter wont be accurate! If your spool is half full it could mean the difference in being back 100 feet instead of 150 feet and scratching your head as to why you are not catching anything.

How about rod lengths and action?  A friend of a friend suggested 9 1/2 or 10' rods for "outside" planer rods.  Or do most of you stick with the standard 8'6" for all of it?

    Dipsy rods 9' 6" or 10'
    Rigger rods 8' or 8'6"

Most rods will say dipsy or downrigger right on them...

I use my Dipsy rods on the boards as well, but I know some guys like 8'6" rods for that. Guys that are big into the boards have different rod holders too. Rods straight up. Check out some of Ironheds videos, you can see his set up pretty well...

Enjoy the process of rigging, it never truly ends...
