    Looks like they will catch steel to me.

    I think if you fish with the fly in the first picture you will be frustrated beyond belief.
     
    They will no doubt bite it, but unless it's inhaled you are going to have a hard time.  Try a longer shank 2x Strong hook.

    They will no doubt bite it, but unless it's inhaled you are going to have a hard time.  Try a longer shank 2x Strong hook.

    For the flies you already have tied in that style, it looks like they're all non-tapered synthetics.  Trim them to about 1/3 to 1/4 the length, taper the tail ends, and fish them in faster water. Synthetics like that tend to be stiffer than natural materials like hackle & bucktail, and will maintain more of the body shape as well as movement when swung through fast currents than a sparse bugger, clouser, or soft hackle streamer that may just compress down to almost nothing.

    The "flies" in the box look like marabou jigs to me & a couple clousers.
