Tying your own egg sacks

I want to try to do this. Can you buy the eggs in bulk and is there a special knot or tool you use?

Any info would be great
Thanks a lot guys

You can get small tubes of trout eggs at poor richards for a donation $ and tie them up.  They also have them all ready tied if you don't want to bother.  I found a spawnee sac tier at a yard sale and bought it to try.  It came with three rolls of netting and looked to be new.  They only sell for around $15. but at one of the steelhead association outings a couple of years ago I watched a lady using one and she could tie them up pretty quick.

I have in the past tied up small amounts using an old plastic film container.  Lay the netting over it put some eggs inside force it down into the tube just a little, then gather the material and tie it off.

Poor Richards also used to see cured salmon eggs by the pound but I don't know if they still due.

I use the atlas shake n cure, netting and magic string found on fishusa's site.  You will save money if u just keep one female steelhead and get the eggs out of it.  Good eats (the fish that is) and u can make enough eggs to last a whole year.

Find someone going to Newyork for salmon and have them bring you some eggs, 1 or 2 fish can fill a gallon zip lock, shake and cure then put them in mason jars I still have eggs from last year and tie 20 or so for a trip...Just use the kit shown...
Oh yeah, they dont have to be big 3 or 4 eggs per sack....good luck...

if u get the ny eggs you got to cure them with the clear water cure first or you can buy a 1# bag to a 5 gal bucket from poor richards of cured eggs for sacs. they are different from the singles they sell. the cured eggs for sacs can not be put on a hook. they will pop.
