Thinking of making the trip up soon. Looking for a place to stay for one of twwo nights. Hoping to find a nice room with a tv and shower without breaking the bank. Planning on fishing the west side.  Any recomendtions would be appriciated.

If it's just you, and you really JUST want a bed, tv and shower with no frills, I like the Riviera.  $30-something bucks a night and clean.  Right near the entrance to Presque Isle - 10 minutes from Walnut access.

Green Roof Inn is decent, a bit pricey though IMO...

Curiosity killed the cat, but for awhile I was a suspect.

I like the Maple enough to rent it every year 1-3x's and the rest of the time driving straight through. I thought it was clean enough and it's extremely close to Walnut, but of course my wife hated it believing that the bed and room were dirty. Yes, it could be a bit cleaner but overall, not all that bad. I'm sure you know that you can request to see a room before renting one.

Maple is in a nice area, but
    Sleep in a sleeping bag
    Bring your own Lysol spray
    Don't walk barefoot.
That applies to any cheap hotel.

And I remember a few nights sleeping between the shotgun and the .45.
