I've almost fell off my chair two or three times, now. Some good stuff in this thread. Let's see if I got it right. Use a vibrating shrimp lubed up with KY in the little creek above the LFZ. Make sure it's the second blue moon of the year, so no DEC is around and use gear stolen/borrowed  out of your neighbor's garage.  Use a Michigan Cricket (or a local pattern I tie called the Russian Roach that's very similar) to snag a chum hen and have at it. If you land less than 20 in any 4 hr. period, you need to hire a guide , or at least study the techniques of the guys on MFF. It helps to learn to speak Russian. Just keep saying nyet over and over if the DEC does show up.

That little Creek is some of the best natural spawn fishing I have ever found in SR country- When its slow on the main River and guys are shifting to the Sandys I always go to THAT creek.
For some odd reason I always seem to hit it just when no one else is fishing there.
The only hassel ya might get from time to time is if you fish it up far enough for those anti -fishermen  on the little deck by the funny little dam with the wire stuff on it to see you..
They always get pizzed and yell for you to go away. Therefore I never go further up than the first bend downstream from there- unless its at night.

i would like to post a little tip here.
there is a piece of water on the beaverkill i used to fish occassionally at night because i felt safe since it had signs saying it was posted and patroled. i figured with guards on post and more patroling i would not have to worry.
well long story short if that is still possible i hook a big fish and my old hardy saint adian starts screaming like a hooker you forgot to pay and men start running and yelling so i put my whole rod and reel underwater to muffle the sound.
that seemed to work since they just started wandering around shining flashlights everywhere.
i gilled my prize and left since i figured all the hubbub must have spooked any fish in the area anyways.

thanks for starting this thread dobie.
lots of good info here.
"shortening the learning curve it is."

I took bigbears advise and had a buddy drop me and my other buddy off at the lfz last night at the parking lot. We walked around the bend of the lfz before we turned our head lamps on. Seen a few fish but the farther we walked up the more fish we seen. It got to the point that it seemed like we were walking on top of the fish. We came to a point that had a wire over hanging the river and the fish were stacked on top of each other. We walked up a little ways and seen what looked to be a water sewer treatment plant on the left. We also seen some sort of green gate preventing the fish from going any farther up river. It was amazing to see so many fish in one area. We decided to fish there for a while and I couldn't even begin to tell you how many we landed. We didn't keep any fish because we didn't know how clean the water was going into the river from the sewer plant. They were hitting on meal worms and grubs. I really appreciate the advise bigbear.

any time, sounds like you found the hole
before you know it you will be speaking russian and hauling fish out 20 at a time
just remember the game wardens arn't real cops ....so don't let them give you a hard time....stand up for your rights.....fight the power!!!!
Just curious though, why were you using a head lamp at all?  I fish without one when i'm at that hole....i could see it if you had to re-tie, but with the heavy braid line i use on my michigan cricket set up i've not had to re-tie since the 80's?  maybe we should fish together sometime so i can show you how its done

Scooby -
On some Summer days when no is around you can even fish right up the concrete brook right into some of those cement ponds around the plant.
They occasionally have fine Brown Trout in them.

Bigbear I'll be back next Thurs. the 4th if any one wants to meet me at the Endzone in Pulaski around 8:00pm or 9 I'll buy you a beer. Maybe if we get drunk enough I'll take you up to the hole by that sewer plant above the lfz. I'll be the guy 6' 3'' with a black shirt and a Steelers or Pirates hat on. I have to give my arm a rest after last night.

It ain't no use if it ain't chartreuse, firetiger a close second; just got a give longer pulls for more "attraction". I know a guy started using them on stripers on the Hudson below the Troy Dam, said they worked, but not as good as at the SR. I'm hoping he hooked himself in the eye, fell overboard, and had a prop run up his****before he drowned.  Oddly, it would feel like a salmon going through the Trestle.

Personally I use these in the LFZ.   Had over 300 hook ups last night,  banked  45 kings, 35   hos,   31  steel,  4 Atlantics, a carp,  and 2 long nose gar.   Wouldn't you believe it though, all males so I am still
eggless

My clients have always done reeeel well in those round circular pool's at the hatchery. McDonalds always has some nice hot fish, even come with a bun. To escape the crowds try my favorite spot, Pucker Brush Creek.

Lucky I tried those, but unless I hard boil them they will not stay on the hook that well.    After Easter I do have alot of colors to choose from though.
